Bookstagram does not slow down. Every few months there's a new obsession, a new series the entire community is reading simultaneously, a new author whose aesthetic fits perfectly into a flat lay. Here is what 2025 looks like.
1. Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros
The third book in the Empyrean series. Violet Sorrengail and Xaden Riorson return, and nothing is as it was. The Bookstagram community collectively lost its mind when this came out in January 2025.
Why it's everywhere: The Empyrean series is the biggest thing to happen to romantasy in years. If you haven't started with Fourth Wing yet, now is the time.
2. Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
War College. Dragons. A heroine who was never supposed to survive first year. Xaden Riorson. If you have managed to avoid this book until now, consider your avoidance officially over.
Why it's everywhere: This is the book that made romantasy a household word. It has been on Bookstagram since 2023 and it is not going anywhere.
3. Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score
Naomi arrives in a small town with nothing. Knox Morgan, the grumpy local mechanic, wants nothing to do with her. The small-town setting, the grumpy hero, and the genuinely sweet payoff made this one of the most recommended books on Bookstagram for two years running.
Why it's everywhere: Grumpy/sunshine in a small town with a slow burn. Beautiful cover, beautiful story. Bookstagram loves both.
4. Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton
The stalker romance that refuses to leave reading communities. Dark, deeply unhinged, and somehow impossible to put down. Not for everyone. On everyone's feed.
Why it's everywhere: Dark romance has had a multi-year moment, and this is the book at the centre of it. The cover photographs beautifully too.
5. Twisted Love by Ana Huang
Alex Volkov is cold, calculating, and has been secretly watching over his best friend's sister for years. When they're finally forced together, the tension is immediate and consuming.
Why it's everywhere: The Twisted series is the gateway for an entire generation of dark romance readers. Twisted Love is always the recommended starting point.
6. Icebreaker by Hannah Grace
A figure skater and a hockey captain forced to share ice time. The sports romance genre has taken over Bookstagram and this is consistently the most recommended title.
Why it's everywhere: Sports romance has its own corner of Bookstagram now, and Icebreaker is always the first recommendation.
7. From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Poppy has lived her whole life under strict rules she doesn't understand. Hawke is her guard, and he is not what he seems. Fantasy romance with real stakes and a plot twist that will genuinely break something in you.
Why it's everywhere: The Blood and Ash series has one of the most dedicated communities in romance. Every new reader is immediately sent to book one.
8. Funny Story by Emily Henry
Daphne and Miles have nothing in common except that their exes just got together. So they agree to fake date to save face. Emily Henry at her most warm and quietly devastating.
Why it's everywhere: Emily Henry is Bookstagram royalty. Everything she releases becomes required reading within days.
9. Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez
Two people with a history of bad luck in love make a pact: date each other for the summer, break up, and use the curse to finally find the right person. Except the plan starts falling apart immediately.
Why it's everywhere: Abby Jimenez has built one of the most loyal followings on Bookstagram. This is her most recent hit and it lived on feeds for months.
10. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
A huntress is taken to a world of dangerous, beautiful fae. This is the series that reshaped the entire fantasy romance genre. Someone new discovers it every single day.
Why it's everywhere: This series is the reason the word romantasy exists. It has been recommended continuously since 2015 and the momentum has not stopped.
