Scan Your Bookshelf and Add Every Book at Once

Most readers have two reading lives. The books on their shelves at home, and the books on their Goodreads or StoryGraph profile. These two lists rarely match, because adding books one by one is a chore most people never finish.

TropeQuest has a faster way.

Take a photo, get your shelf

On the My Shelf page, tap the camera icon. Point your phone at any bookshelf, a single shelf or the whole wall, and take a photo.

TropeQuest scans the image, reads the spines, and identifies the books. Within seconds you get a list of everything it found. Confirm the ones it got right, skip any it missed, and they are added to your library in one go.

No typing. No searching for each title individually. No getting distracted halfway through.

Your physical shelf, managed virtually

Once your books are in, TropeQuest becomes a digital record of exactly what you own. No more walking to the shelf to check if you already have a book. No more buying duplicates. No more forgetting that book you picked up months ago and never got to.

Your shelf shows you the total count of books you own, and breaks that down by status: how many you have read, how many are unread, and how many you are currently working through. It is the kind of at-a-glance picture that makes it easy to decide what to pick up next.

What happens after the scan

Every book that gets added lands in your shelf with a status of Unread by default. From there you can mark any book as Reading or Read as you go.

Your shelf is then fully searchable and filterable. You can browse by genre, by status, or search for a specific title. And because every book in the TropeQuest catalogue is tagged with tropes, your scanned books connect directly to the discovery features: you can see what is similar to books you already own, find the next book in a series, or explore by the tropes you love most.

If a book is not recognised

Occasionally a spine is angled, worn, or too small to read clearly. If a book does not get identified, you can add it manually with the search bar on the same page.

There is also a feedback button on scan results. If TropeQuest misidentifies a book, flagging it helps improve future scans.
